When your friends rave about Shaun and the Innchanter like family, you know you HAVE to visit. We had hopes and dreams for our stay, but they were far exceeded, thanks to Shaun’s hospitality and tips for the locale. We got to soak in the hot springs under the Milky Way as meteors flashed by, and then paddled back to the boat surrounded by blue bioluminescence.
(Just ask Shaun how he tests whether the bioluminescence is in show πŸ˜‰
And make sure to break out the Fluster game after dinner – it was invented on the Innchanter!

We couldn’t even stay for tea and crumpets but even so, our visit was truly scrumptous! We just had just a quick tour and chat after our delivery, but the warm welcome will stay with me for many years to come!

We β€˜only’ flew in from Tofino for dinner (with pilot Ben, who had the time of his life), but it tasted after more!
Thanks Shaun, for your fabulous hospitality and cheflevel cooking. If you are ever in Holland again, welcome!! Richard, Moniek and Nout

I spent an incredible 2 days on the Inn Chanter. I was so impressed I returned a few days later for another couple of days. The location is unsurpassed, the food so amazing I still think about it and the hosts couldn’t have been better. Thank you guys. You are simply the best!

This is a truly unique experience and not to be missed. Shaun and his crew are incredibly good hosts. The food is fresh and served family style, which makes every night a dinner party with interesting guests. The setting in a remote cove cannot be beat, and being able to access the hot springs at all hours (including before and after the large tour groups) is a major benefit. Note that the boat has been beautifully renovated, and rooms are clean and comfortable, but remember it is a boat in an isolated location, so there are no showers, etc.

My husband and I came for our honeymoon trip and we had the most loveliest time. We are now 10 years out and I want very much to come back. Our meals were so beautiful and delicious. Using the canoe to go over to the hot springs was just so simple and grand. There is no lovelier a destination.

Rugged gorgeous and inspiring (and I’m not just speaking about our host)! We had a spectacular time… delicious food, cozy rooms, excellent company, Hot Springs, phosphorescence and stars…What more could you want? Food for the Soul!

This experience is a must! If you find pleasure emerged in a cove of warm company and mouth-watering meals…. you need anchor here!

Captain Shaun is a dream host. He’s well versed in literature and the lay of the land, and open to directing you on hiking adventures that lead you off the boardwalk path. I recommend skirting the shorelines surrounding the Innchanter if you are curious about seeing aquatic life in its natural beauty. There be rowboat, kayak and canoe a plenty ready for your riding. It’s well worth the trip to the Hot Springs; picture Avatar-inspired scenery you thought you might only imagine… until you get here.

We had a great time on the InnChanter, despite the heavy rain. Dinner (both the food and the company) was fantastic. We really enjoyed the fireplace during the rainy night. Shaun, thanks so much for sending us off the to hot springs in the morning when we were feeling lazy and dry – it was a truly amazing experience to be there when the pools were nearly deserted at low tide! Sorry we were late getting back for breakfast – it was delicious, thanks for keeping it warm. Hopefully we will be back again someday!

Ryan, from Paddle West Kayaking, suggested we book on the InnChanter for a night when it was going to be too stormy for our sea kayaking camping adventure. My four kids (20, 18, 17 and 14) and I could not be happier with the turn of events. From the moment we climbed aboard the “dead head run” on one of Jamie’s hot spring tour boats to the flight home on Tofino Air, this was an incredibly memorable family vacation. Shaun is a wonderful host with a beautifully renovated fishing vessel. The dining room was the perfect setting to enjoy an eclectic group of new people, with fantastic food, terrific conversation, and a West Coast storm lashing the windows. A roaring fire in the lovely sitting room before retiring to our book-lined rooms made for a perfect evening. On Shaun’s suggestion we took out the canoes and kayaks for a paddle up the channel across from the hot springs (and the InnChanter’s mooring) and viewed the Pacific pounding on to the rocks as we bobbed 10 feet away with the sea otters, safely behind the natural breakwall of sea kelp. This was a fantastic journey for us all. Thank you, Shaun. It was a pleasure for us to meet you.

We’re off for our second trip to the Innchanter. This is one of the most unique B and Bs you will ever find. The location is spectacular and the food is fabulous. You’ll not find a more gracious and accommodating host than Shaun, the captain and gourmet chef. Relax and enjoy. Highly recommended.

Our stay on the InnChanter exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to have such a unique place to stay near the hot springs so that we could enjoy them at sunrise, sunset, and anytime in between. The trip was further enhanced by Shaun: his stellar hospitality, his stories, his enthusiasm, and his fabulous cooking. Shaun, thank you for your attention to details that make your guests feel so warm and welcome (like setting the scene for such a magical moment when we returned from our late night soak and found the salon glowing from the flickering light of candles and the wood burning in the fireplace). Sensational!

Amazing food, host and tranquility aboard the Inn Chanter..A must do for everyone. Perfect place to chill, recharge or just kick back with family, away from all the pressures of life. Inn Chanter is that special place we are always looking to find.

Joe and I were there on May 6th/15 for an overnight stay. The boat ride from Tofino to Innchanter, our stay, the hot springs, our hike through the woods and our flight back on the float plane were all part of a very intricate surprise mothers’ day and fathers’ day present offered by our 4 children and coordinated by our daughters Cynthia and Samantha. Our host Shawn was the funniest, warmest and friendliest host we have ever met. Thank you very much for your hospitality Shawn, it was a great pleasure meeting you and sharing the most delicious meals. Keep up the good work and thanks for helping keep the whole thing a surprise all the way until the float plane. We will meet again. I recommend this place to everyone I speak with – by the way Shawn … do you need a cook, a deck help or a cleaning slave for the summer? Thank you so much …

The InnChanter was recommended to us by a B&B host in Vancouver and we are so glad he did. After an hour on the whale watching boat we were wondering what we had let ourselves in for but when the InnChanter came into sight and five minutes of Shaun’s company made us sure we had done the right thing! The boat is charming and our Princess Room had a comfy raised bed, plenty of space and portholes which let in the morning light. The lack of shower shared toilet facilities was made up for by the close location of the hot springs. Our morning routine was to get up early(ish), row ourselves over to the hot springs dock, walk the 20 minutes along the board walk and have a dunk in the springs before the “tourists” arrived. Then it was back for a sumptuous breakfast. Choices then, of going on an adventure or chilling out chatting with other guests or reading a book on the sun deck? Shaun was more than happy to organise adventures including walks to remote beaches on the other side of the peninsular or a walk (trek) up a river for a swim in a pool under the waterfalls. At night time the stars are the brightest and biggest we had ever seen and for a real treat – take a boat out in the pitch black and watch the fish being lit up by the bio luminescent algae – looked like a scene from a sci fi film! Magical. And then there’s dinner. Not sure where to begin but Shaun is not only an exceptional host, he is also a fantastic chef. Our evening meals taken with the other guests in the beautiful, panoramic diningroom, were out of this world. We picked fresh samphire for our salad and ate salmon and halibut so fresh it was unbelievable! The living room was cosy with a roaring fire when the evenings get chilly. Don’t forget to bring water shoes and a torch! So if you are up for an adventure this is certainly for you. Be prepared to mix in with the other guests and row yourself to land and you’ll have an amazing time. Take the float plane back to Tofino (Shaun will organise this for you) – you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you so much to Shaun and the crew on the InnChanter! My amazing man Ian took me there as a surprise for my birthday and it could not have been more perfect…I was pretty much speechless the whole time. The food was out of this world and the staff were so friendly and made me feel right at home. Our room was beautiful and Hotsprings cove was the most magical place!! A first for all of us. This was one of the high points of our trip to the west coast and I have been recommending it to friends ever since. Kathy and Steve were amazing hosts and the meals were among the best I have ever tasted. First class. Hopefully the 2 husky/shepherd cross puppies who befriended us on our walk to the Hot springs will be adopted to good homes. We almost took them home!
Thanks again.

We had such an amazing time at the Innchanter – Cathy and Steve are fabulous hosts (and great cooks). We’re almost a little sad we did not end up getting stuck in the fog for a little while. Thanks for making our little getaway great and memorable :)! A&F

I brought my daughter and son out to Tofino for a vacation and we stayed one night at the Innchanter. It was the absolute highlight of the trip. We had a chance to take the kayaks out and what treat that was. The scenery is something we never get to see in Ontario. While kayaking we saw a black bear within 20 feet, then when we got back to the boat there was an eagle swooping in and fishing less than 40 feet away. My daughter couldn’t take pictures fast enough. The inn keepers that Shaun has aboard are wonderful people and excellent chefs. Steve took us on a hike across to a bay that was on a trail I would have never found. The scenery was just amazing. After Cathy and Steve treated us to a wonderful meal, we topped off the day with a relaxing trip to the hot springs. Evening at the hot springs is so much better than going during the day. And the final treat of the day was the trip back the the boat in the dark, when the water lights up with the bioluminescent phytoplankton.

Shaun it was a pleasure meeting you. My son thinks you have a wicked sense of humor.

Cathy and Steve, thanks so much for your hospitality. It was a treat meeting Scully.

Sorry it’s been so long before getting around to posting!
Just after our stay in September I was diagnosed with breast cancer, so it has been a whirlwind of horrible surgeries, hospital appointments, and now I am halfway through chemo with radiation therapy to follow.
In these difficult times, if I need to take my mind to a “happy place”, it is back to “Innchanter” I go!
Thank you so much for all the happy memories!

The atmosphere of the InnChanter and the Cove is phenomenal. I am writing this months after I spent part of my summer on the boat. The adventure and the conversations, the FOOD, the stars at night… I can go on and on about how awesome the experience was for me. Thank you, Shaun, for the fantastic company. You have the most inspiring and fantastic stories, and the soul of the boat and the very natural surroundings made it all the more… “InnChanting.” πŸ™‚

When I was in Tofino the third week in July I asked a friend, “What is the one thing I should do when I’m here?” He said, “The number one thing you should do when visiting Tofino is go to the Inn Chanter.” Literally, the next day my two friends organized a flight with Tofino Air and had the day planned out… they were 100% right. I’ve never been to such a place. Shawn, thank you so much for your hospitality, the laughs and conversation – your a great man and I’m so happy I had the pleasure to meet you. Your concept with the Inn Chanter is like nothing I’ve seen before. I felt like one night there was like a week at day camp – on steroids πŸ™‚ Thanks so much for the fantastic food, and that’s an understatement. You are truly an amazing cook. The smoked salmon was bang on, and your mom’s baked cookies hit the spot when we got there. The hot springs was a great hike and we were lucky enough to have nice weather and see a fantastic sunset. This is a ‘must do’ when visiting Tofino, and I can’t wait to visit again. Thanks again for the memories.

Lori & I had a wonderful time over the 2011 Labor Day Weekend on the InnChanter. Mark & Austin made on board conversation easy & fun. The food was amazing… even if Mark had to use brown bread for the Puff Pastry Breakfast. Kayaking, rowing (sorry about my superhuman strength breaking the oarlock) walking the boardwalk in the dark with borrowed flashlight… all made for a weekend away like we’ll never forget. Thanks…

What a magical experience! She had no idea where she was going or what she was doing. She arrived by float plane to an isolated cove with a beautiful 1926 floating palace. Once the sheer surprise of the most beautiful place on the planet set in, we did a trip to the Hot Springs. AMAZING!!!
Once back, Mark and Austin prepared a wonderful candle lit dinner for us. After dinner, we went upstairs on the deck, where I fell to one knee and pulled out a ring that I had been waiting five years to do… only to drop it in the OCEAN!!!! Her reaction was what you would expect… but I couldn’t let her worry too long, I then pulled out the real ring and asked for her hand in marriage.

One of the most important days in our lives, was in the most beautiful place in the world, and was absolutely perfect! Thank you Innchanter for providing a memory that will last for the rest of our lives.

I Highly recommend this experience for everyone!
